remove linpus and install your favourite distro.

Linpus is total crap. It was distributed by an ex M$ serf who originally called it Lindows and let off plenty of hot air, before getting paid $100 million by M$ for dissapearing.
Install ubuntu 10.04 dvd, or KG's fav distro Mandriva. Or any of the innumerable distros, customised for certain tasks like animation, web publishing, etc. etc.
If you specify what exactly you are trying to do, the list will help in selecting a specific distro.

How did you come to that conclusion ? Any experiences you would like to share on that ? Since I am asking I would like to say that debian eeepc project is quite mature and works for most of the eeepc models out of the box. On the other hand ubuntu after using all the good things from debian has also added a new UI for netbooks in its netbook remix edition which was a big hit
Links : Debian eeepc : http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC Ubuntu NBR : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UNR.
I also would like to mention moblin(now meego) live. The UI is just too amazing but unfortunately it hasn't been tested well . It crashed some times hence i didn't install it .

first netbook I bought came with opensuse - everything worked out of the box. The next one came with windows (the office goofed up). Tried fedora, mandriva - neither could make things wireless work. opensuse again worked out of the box.

Boot from a live usbcd/pendrive and first run an fsck...... on your partitions. Your data could be corrupted.

Ask here http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5 Try making it work . If it doesn't you have no other choice but to ditch it .
Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_netbook-oriented_Linux_distributi... to simplify your choice.
