I've got news that Internet access via cable modem is arriving in my locality. I am wondering whether there's support for it on GNU/Linux. Are there drivers available for the hardware (what kind of hardware?).
Should I pray for its quick arrival? :)
I remember there was a related discussion on the list sometime back.

can you say eth0?
Cable Modem networks connect to your Ethernet Card. Some of them do PPPoE but those are very few.
QUICK POLL: Does anybody know of a _cable_ network that uses PPP-over-Ethernet rather than just Static / Dynamic IP allocation?

rl0 --> realtek card on first ethernet interface fxp0 -->Intel Ethernet Express Cards on first ethernet interface ... fxp1 for the second card and stuff like that .. its a naming conventions used in freebsd n most unixes...for identifying cards frm their vendors ...
