Hi,
I would like to help in the project. However, I do not know how to program. How can I assist?
I am a freelance journalist and linux newbie.

Actually, I am facing the same problem. I have a lot of domain expertise in Accounts, Costing and commercial applications I also have adequate expertise in software development under windows platform.
But in Linux, I am too, like Suhit, a newbie. What do we have to do when we become a "mentor" for a project ? How is this thing actually going to work ?
I want to be a part of the project, but am more worried about messing things up for others.

I guess what you can do is to define the requirements for a project from a client's perspective. As computer programmers, it is very hard for us to understand the requirements of a lay person. We tend to assume that if we can do it, anyone can. You can avoid this problem since you are a lay person.
I too want to be a part of the project. But face the same problem as Saswata and not a techie though I have been using linux off and on since a couple of years. your PHP, or even C goes above me.
Maybe we should have something simpler for the likes of us. Saswata's accounting software project could be a starting point.
Noel.
