This is a message that comes up all over my system logs -
Aug 27 19:51:11 trantor5 modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-6
I suspect this is because some alias in /etc/modules.conf is missing ... where do I look for the relevant module name? I am using kernel 2.4.7 compiled on my machine.

Sure does ... added the line "alias char-major-6 parport" ... hope it works. What do I do with the other module, parport_pc?
