Dear Readers,
With the Fedora team, as usual, pushing the release date of FC6 again and again (before finally releasing it on 24th and it getting available for download on 25th), we were left with no option but to go for the next most requested distro on the bulletinn board - Mandriva Linux 2007. This distro is a treat for users who like to work on multi-architecture platforms (32-bit and 64-bit).
Coming to the editorial highlights, we have a mega interview with Javed Tapia, founder Red Hat India, who speaks to the media for the first time after stepping down from his position of director - India. In the trends section, this month we discuss about the use of Linux in tghe supercomputing world.
We have two very interesting case studies this month, one that discusses the first mover advantage taken by Samsung by incorporating the 'Linux-compatible' logo in their printer advertisement and the other about Bombay high court adopting Linux/OSS.
In our opinions section, this month, the community opines on how whether IPR is a boon or a bane. Also, in the 'Down Memory Lane' series, we look at the history of the KDE project.

Maybe I should have added sarcasm tags. Should ezines be posted to mailing lists? If so, there should be a vote on that. And I don't remember seeing any posts where this was discussed and approved.

A short note on a current linux magazine is ok. It helps in deciding whether to buy or not. :) It was tagged commercial and it was linux related.

You should update your definition of "short". It was anything but that.
Furthermore, this list for for Linux & FOSS related discussions among subscribers. Aggreed that LFY is a Linux and FOSS centric magazine, but using the mailing list to knotch up another 800 (or whatever the number of subscibers is) recipients of the ezine is inappropriate. The question of whether or not distribution of ezines via the mailing list is acceptable should be voted upon. My answer is Nay.

I second Vivek's motion.

Suggest please set up a voting mechanism - perhaps on this LUG's web site. All list members should get one vote each.
IMO, members voting on this list with yea, nay, me too and then have them counted by the list admins, is not a productive use of their time since they are the ones to enforce any ruling.

Yes Rony, I agree, You can not ignore the efforts of LFY in distribution of Linux CD/DVD. When the list member can tolerate useless discussion on broadband, licenses, and other, why object to few linux related mails from LFY. Welcome LFY.

Marking him as a spammer (individually, not by the list admins) is a good suggestion making everyone happy. Personally I don't mind a single mail once in a month with commercial tag.
