Hi I am looking for a broadband connection in Chembur station area. My cable operator provides Hathway connection. But calling him and just enquiring about the same has been a pain. I dont know abt the connection
I use Hathway from borivali-east. I am happy with service & value for money(550+100 modem rent p.m. for 1GB d/l) relative my needs. I get average 220-240 kbps download speed. Installation on debian sarge was pretty simple.

I could not agree more, most of the ISP providers tend to be botherd about increasing their database and not bothering about service. Actually if it's a linux installation they get somewhat scared about it. Guess we still have a long way to go to find one service provided that knows what he is doing and gives proper service (By the way I use iqara and they suck big time as of late)

The Iqara execs are so stupid that one of them actually tried to sell me a 32Kbps (yes thats 32Kilo BITS per second) connection for 1000 bucks with download caps when I had a 64Kbps for 650 bucks without any download caps ;)
Actually, what about powersurfer.net? They have decent plans. The service is not that bad. Plus, when I talked to them about their Linux support, the call centre guy said - "Don't worry sir. If you are bothered about the 24Online dialer then we will put your line in leased line mode (whatever that means) and you won't need any dialer". But that was subject to IF I was taking their 64/128 Kbps UL connection with a static IP. With Reliance, I think I can safely say, they won't be THAT bad. Besides, I have spoken to two of their customers and they are quite satisfied. I guess powersurfer may be available in Chembur. Check it out.
I myself am getting tired of 7star's restrictive policies. I cant do p2p. I am always scared to ask for support. They don't allow home LANs. They don't have proper CC and more BS... but their uptime and speeds are very consistent ;)
