Hi All,
FYI
Remarkable improvements in server performance!
http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/reviews/0,4161,2776396,00.html
Apache 1.3.19 running on a Red Hat Linux 7.1 system upgraded to the 2.4.5 kernel was able to process at peak throughput 4,602 Web requests per second.
the best score Apache on Linux had was 1,842 requests per second (remember, in our retest, Linux and Apache settings were directly tuned by Red Hat engineers). That test was with Apache 1.3.6 on a Linux 2.2.10 kernel
Best Regards,
parag mehta

There's a post on Slashdot today that talks about RedHat's Tux 2.0 server doing (IIRC) 12000+ requests per second.

AFAIK, LILO can boot Linux from any HDD, as long as it is within the first 1024 cylinders. All you need to specify is the location of the root partition. For this edit /etc/lilo.conf to change the device name of the root partition, then run the command `lilo' in superuser mode.
LILO boots Linux from /dev/hdc3 on my box. That's the secondary master IDE drive.

The problem isn't at mm.ilug-bom.org.in, because I get exactly one email from the LUG.

Richard M Stallman. Founder of the Free Software Foundation, initiator of the GNU project. St. Ignucious. Author of the almighty Emacs. Author of the GPL. Say no to open source, yes to free software. Let's not talk about the BSD licence anymore. That Richard Stallman.

Most welcome. Depends on seating though. Nagarjun, what's the capacity like?
Before criticising anybody step into their shoes and walk for a mile.
Are you sure they'd like that? I mean, a mile is a long distance. What if you don't come back? What if he's still wearing the shoes?
