Is this box made for India?  Tel. line signaling and supervision vary in each country.

I don't know if they make country specific boxes, but I made sure I bought it here. It shipped to Delhi from Bombay, I called the distributor listed on the linksys site. The default dial plans are .us and so are the tone settings.

Caveat, make sure such a setup is allowed in India.  IIRC, a while back VOIP networks could not be connected to the PSTN network with the exception of lic. service providers.

I've read the TRAI consultation paper available on their page. It's dated May 2008 and is very vague. It really had me confused. Most clauses seem self-conflicting. I'm looking for details.

I would suggest you contact the hardware vendor and/or participate in their forums - chances of solving your problem there is higher.
