don't understand all this tech stuff. I just want to uininstall the pppoe client that comes pre-installed with mandrake 10 so I can install something else. both are not compatible.
actually, i think this mandrake 10 sucks. does anyone know of any linux app which is really similar to windows?

what do you mean uninstall files ?
was it a rpm package ? if so, did you install it using urpmi or just rpm -ivh <filename>.rpm ? If so - simply urpme or rpm -e
if it is a source tar.gz file, and you ran ./configure and make install as root, without giving any prefix, then simply run configure again to find out the default install directories. just delete those files and you should be fine.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing - read up on linux package management. you cant use linux if youre averse to learning new things. This list will mostly not spoon-feed you solutions buddy...

click on start/system/configuration/packaging/remove software
do some more clicking and you are done
