As I explained in my last column, I've got a mission: to bring the Web to my grandmother. She's a computer novice who's going to have a nitro-burnin' IBM Thinkpad pulling the Internet out of the air so she can sit out on her patio and e-mail me about how lovely the weather is down south. The Thinkpad will be running Linux, so when I visit her, I won't have to spend time clearing adware and spyware and viruses from her machine. And she won't care what operating system the notebook is running, which is fine with me. She shouldn't have to think about her operating system--that's my job.
