The only reason I boot to windows is to listen to online streaming music from sites like http://raaga.com, http://smashits.com or http://indiahits.com
They require Real Player, which I have on Windows and all works fine.
But I want to avoid using Windows and listen to this music on Linux. I installed Realplayer 10 on my RH9 and FC1 boxes, and also installed the Mozilla plugin which comes with the package. But I am simply not able to listen to music from these sites.
I came to the conclusion that these sites were designed for the Windows version of RealPlayer only, since they play songs in a window that has RealPLayer _embedded_ into them, as opposed to playing songs in standalone ReaPlayer. Sites which use standalone players (like http://www.shoutcast.com/) work great on Linux.
Can I somehow play music from the above mentioned sites on Linux?

1. Go to shoutcast.com (http://yp.shoutcast.com/), right click on the "Tune in" button next to your favourite station, select "Copy link location..." (in firefox)
2. Open realplayer, select "manage favourites", new->paste the url & give it a name.
3. Choose your entry from the favourites & enjoy the music.
Sadly the last part barely & intermittently works over the <5 kbps MTNL dialup connection :( Realplayer says too much "congestion"!

i tried raaga.com it works pretty well for me. i m on suse pro 9.2 ... with firefox 1.0 PR ...
no issues here atleast ... suse pro 9.2 had come real player where i have played several streaming video and stuff pretty well ...

Hmmm.. I have firefox 1.0 too. Looks like the issue is with Real Player. What is your version of Real Player?
