Hi Guys,
My boss wants a state of the art / latest / greated PDA + Phone that works in US and India + bundled software to sync with the GNU/Linux operating system.
He is going to the US tonight and will buy it from there. Anyone that has done R&D on this topic and can suggest a model I should tell him to buy, would be super.
For the past 1 hour I've been on Google, LinuxDevices, Palm.com and Nokia.com and have got even more confused on what I should recommend/suggest. ;-)
Any help would be great.
My goal is to prevent him from buying a product that would require him to switch (dual boot) into Windows just so that he can sync his PDA with the computer for data entry.
I've not had much success with the PDA sync tools on GNU/Linux with his notebook. Probably got something to do with the USB / Serial Port thingy..

How about a Sharp Zaurus - i dont think it has gsm support. but its an excellent PDA, runs Linux :) you can search on handhelds.org for the list of compatible PDAs which can run Linux.

Actually, the fact that the device (phone+pda) uses the Linux kernel is not that much of a big deal as much as the sync utility being able to run on Linux.
The Palm Dekstop software which comes with the Palm PDA is available on Windows only.
There are other sync tools written by the KDE voluteers that enable users to syncronize the data between the PDA and Address Book, but I've not been able to get it to work on my boss's Notebook...
I suspect the problem is related to the USB / Serial Port configuration problem.
Will look in to Motorola Website.. Thanks for the help.

Motorola is the only big company seriously into Linux phones. Check out the latest range of smart phones from them.
Am not aware of the syncing part though.
