Has anyone on this list traded on hdfcsec.com using firefox? If so what kind of tweaking is required to make firefox operational for this site.
there is an IEs4linux 'alternative' available, but I am worried abt security.

Please try faking the useragent to IE Windows, with this firefox plugin - "User Agent Switcher" and check.
While not guaranteed to work it worked for similar problem with HSBC site. Although HSBC now supports firefox without any problems.

Please don't do that, and don't tell people to do that. Every time a firefox user fakes his user agent, it gets logged as an IE user. The result is that their logs show an IE request. No reason for them to support ffx then.

Umm. Other than suggest to not use hdfcsec, I would rather go with using user agent switch AND log a bug/problem with hdfc IT support.
On the brighter side the browser checks are often embedded in login routines only :D
I often write to site admins pointing out bugs in the rendering under FF in Linux. That helps too.

I am not sure about hdfcsec.com, I did not check, but I have been using hdfcbank.com and netbanking facility for almost a year now. I have had no problem in accessing with FireFox.

Most of hdfcbank.com works well with Firefox. I recently found that the Netsafe Credit Cards feature does not work with Firefox. I wrote them a mail about it. Got a concerned response (much better than a canned support request asking me to use IE even though I explicity wrote that I don't have IE!). I suggest you write to them about HDFC Sec/Netsafe as well -- greater the number of people complaining, faster will be their turnaround time w.r.t. Firefox/Opera.
