The core business of our company is Linux based network management and email
solutions for the SME market. (Note the subtle ad for our company ;-) )
But even within our company, apart from the techies, there is resistance to
shift to the Linux desktop. We have now forcibly convinced ;-) our graphic
designer to move. She is now using GIMP and getting used to it.
This is definitely the way to go. Linux on desktops will go a long way in
creating awareness and removing mindsets like
OS=Windows
Wordprocessor=MSWord

Dhanraj Mahal , "G" Block,
Hi Vinayakam, I'm a Goa-based freelance journalist. It
took me over one year to switch over, even after getting
personally convinced that Free Software is a great concept.
But once I switched over, I use GNU/Linux for 95% of my
work. (The other 5% is spent in cybercafes, over which
I wish I had more control/choice).
It works fine for me. Stability, virus-free (except one
work once ... for sticking to RedHat 6.2 long long after
it was recommended, simple and clean tools and hardly
any use of 'pirated' tools). But it takes time to get over
the uncertainity and fear. FN
