Hello Everyone,
I am zeroing in on an Acer Laptop for my family's usage. The model is TravelMate 2428NWXCi
I have been reading advertisements on newspapers about ACER laptops pre-installed with GNU/Linux. I don't know what their model numbers are, but they have appeared around 2-3 weeks ago. If you have an indiatimes email account, you can use http://epaperdaily.timesofindia.com and check out the archives. Or find out your old paper stocks in the store-room ;)
But the Acer Showroom (in SION) didn't know what Linux distribution was installed on the Laptop! :) (I had called up only to ask that!)
Oh, sorry, after going through the link, the OS that comes pre-installed is Linux, but again, donno, which distro. (had written the above before visting)
Psst ... Spelling mistake in subject line? (Type Linux Linux ... ;) )

I think its PC Linux or RedFlag Linux. I had inquired about 1 year ago.

I know...its pathetic for a GLUG mailing list right?

The Acer notebooks come with (mine did) a minimal install of Linpus. The default installation is of no use at all and no installation media is provided. I remember reading a post on this list some years ago where it was referred to as "Limpus Linux"!
