hello all again,
well as to two replies from nagarajun and juju....
first of all, no, nagarjun, i do not have a special kernel compiled for the specific client but a precompiled kernel from ltsp.org. they have a variety to choose from depending upon the network card. eg. there is one for ne2000, one for tulip, one for rtl8139 (which i am using since my client has dlink 538tx+ n/w card) there is a generic one too and i tried that one also.
and juju, when i said "restart" i physically rebooted the server (where nfs is running) also rebooted the client but the problem still exists.
thanx for ur help in advance
regards sagar

What does "showmount -e <server>" show?
