well when i attended the last Lug-meet an idea struck me back then when Prof.Nagarjun was explaining why its GNU/linux and not just linux. Also there was a nice response for the documentation and Gnoware cd's. what if we guys make a cd of GNU applications that run on windows, applications like open-office, the gimp etc... we can distribute this cd's which will effectively answer the question why its GNU/linux and also most of the people who use windows and are rather skeptical about Gnu-linux can get the feel of what its like.it will effectively solve their doubts and thus promote linux system. Just trying to contribute back DHANESH
yup u guys are right but have we at lug-bom ever tried to distribute this cd's to newbies.thats the section we should target shudnt we? and as a matter of fact i have already voluntered for GNUWin II
I hate to burst your bubble. But someone else already had this idea before. Take a look at
GNUWin II http://gnuwin.epfl.ch/
and TheOpenCD http://www.theopencd.org/
Maybe you can help with localisation of GNUWin II.

The flop side of such an idea is that the media by itself is quite useless unless you accompany the same with a demo/talk.
Else have them land up as expensive coasters/car-decos. You should aim to have these distributed for a fee at any local event you may conduct.

I agree with Trevor, there should be a small charge for the CD's. If possible accompany then with some written document which will also support them with the talks that we have.

Send me an Invite :)
IGLUG?
Usually I am agnostic to the prefix GNU everywhere crusade but IGLUG just sounds "eww" like a drowning chicken.
AFAIK the list was still "linuxers" (which is way cool) or ILUG-BOM (which is half decent and in the subject line)
On the other hand it's not as bad as iFLOSS-Bombay. Thankfully I've forgotten what that abbreviation meant.

Wouldn't ilug-bom or perhaps linuxers have been nicer? There are still some of us who don't say GNU/Linux yet. (I know the arguments for and against. Feel free to say GNU/Linux. Just don't try to force my choice :)).
