Hi, ----- Original Message -----
Teach the poor guy to access the archieves so that he can get the benefits of the previous mails on the subject. (I cant since I forgot how to do it :-) )
Good Idea! Can someone tell me how to access the archives? Thanks! --Royce.

Instructions are attached with every mail.
Royce,
Go to the page http://mm.ilug-bom.org.in/mailman/listinfo/linuxers It is the mail login page of the LUG. It is also pasted at the bottom of every page. There are 2 links, one giving the current archives and another for the older one.
In case you are in a hurry, the link to the archives is http://mm.ilug-bom.org.in/pipermail/linuxers/.
It also allows you to download the full archieve (which the site says is 28MB).
The archieve is weekly and sorted by subject, thread, author and data.
Which makes me ask the next question.......if I need to check on a particular subject, but dont know which week, do I have to manually go through each week ? Or use google to do the search since it does gives results from the LUG archieve.
BTW, has anyone actually searched the archieve for a subject ? I am asking for real life examples from the group.
Regards Saswata

I didnt see this page. Where is the link to it ? When I was looking through the site to understand the archieve system, I only found the link which took me to the page which had the week-by-week set of all emails that were sent by the list.

Hmm..., no wonder I was wondering that there was (and still is) a link some where on www.ilug-bom.org.in to *search* the mailing list. Please ignore my last mail about need of a search feature on linuxers list. Namazu is already doing the job, thanks to Philip. May be this link can be added to std. signature added to all messages.

The archives were indexed manually until last week. They are now done automatically - I hope.

Yes, a search feature on list archives would be very helpful, is it possible to implement this? This is directed towards list administrators.
