i think cable lines are the future. and reliance already has a nation wide optical fibre link. Their infrastructure can support much more bandwidth than they are using now.

cable would be very good - but without a critical mass of users, there wont be a demand for more bandwidth. If there isn't a high demand, it wont be cheap...cable modems are more expensive as well. But then again, I think cable could become easily accessible with a push from the government, as has happened in South Korea. They have one of the highest penetration of broadband thanks to a Government program.

so we need more zenith like vendors. assembling/(getting assembled) is always a cheaper proposition. actually now PCs _are_ penetrating homes and business. question is to connect them to the internet.

Hmm...I dont think assembling is really an option for the average household. Getting assembled - yes. That is what I meant by a desi-Dell, someone who is big and assembles kit and has a few standard configurations which fulfil different needs.
