Hi all Whenever i log on to SUn os 5.2 or solaris i always face 1 problem : when i open a file using 'vi' editor, then it gets opened as in linux but, when i try to right something using 'Esc i' then <-- BSpace and delete button do not work as in linux and put some unnecessary characters at start of prceding line. How do i backspace and delete in vi editor in Sun Os or solaris. Send it to PLUG aswell if possible bcaz i am banned for crossposting

BSpace and delete are not vi keys. You use x to delete current character and X to delete previous character.
linux doesn't use vi, it uses vim. Solaris uses vi.

Perhaps you mean: on Bloodshed Linux 8.1, vi is aliased/symlinked to vim.
BTW I'm running Vim on Solaris. Just download and build the sources -- http://www.vim.org/download.php#yourself

No, I mean no linux distribution uses vi because vi isn't GPL'ed. They all use vim which does run in vi compatibility mode if you want it to.
