Is it possible that we write an article about GNU/Linux on desktop and get it published in some of the famous newspapers like Times of India, DNA, Hindustan Times, etc? It will have to be done by some notable people since it should be accepted by these papers.
The theme could be that of a myth breaker, showing how Linux is not difficult to install, better looking, etc. Linux power on servers should get no more than a mention as the aim is to get desktop users to use it.
A great suggestion. I volunteer to help 'placing' such an article (but don't have the time right now to actually write it, plus with the brochure nearly ready why should the wheel be reinvented?), countering the HT new year article about laptops, all 5 of the top list not even mentioning Linux.

He is suggesting an article specific to a dektop. The wiki is more generic. I feel that a substantial rewrite will be required for the above reason as well as it being an article for the newspaper.

pull out all the desktop specific stuff from the various versions of the brochure - make a new page and announce it. It will get written in a jiffy.

I've started a page on this on the wiki:
http://db.ilug-bom.org.in/wiki/index.php/Desktop_Linux_Article
This was from scratch and not from the brochure contents. Everyone please pitch in with patches from the brochures as well as your own contributions.
Regards, Siddhesh
PS: glug-bom.org doesn't seem to be working. ilug-bom.org.in is working fine for the wiki. PPS: Please start a separate topic if you're replying to the PS... or the PPS ;-)
