Hello All,
I have shifted to gmail as yahoo's uk server appears to have disabled pop access for Indian users. Gmail is all set in thunderbird but on clicking 'get mail' it connects to pop.gmail.com and just remains hanged. Is this related to some security setting in the triband or linux that's causing this. Gmail users on triband please help. All pop and smtp settings as per gmail's instructions, so that area is ok.
Regards,
Rony

I am not on triband but mine gmail did work with thunderbird on slackware without any problems. Check for the SMTP server being used for all your mails are different. AFAICR, I had to give all SMTP server names. I don't have a linux box right now. Will check it when I go home and look at it.
Gmail's POP port is 995 SMTP is 465 and both ports use Secure connection
Under server Settings check the "Use secure connection (SSL)" option
and you also have to enable POP from the web-interface, http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13273

Yeah. Mails with just quoted text. No content from you!
His emails are not blank, just the format is not appropriate. Even the lines in his message start with a ">" which make them look as if they were quoted from a previous message. Better rectify that, Mehul. :D

Yeah sanket that's what had happened that time. But, I didn't get what exactly dinesh meant cos I had created a new topic and explained it there. Dinesh if you see my very first post of this thread and compare it to rony's you will notice that I have added my content. But, it wasn't formatted properly. So, my reply seemed to be a part of rony's post and it got lost on many people. I am sorry about that. But, I don't know how that happened.
