Hi friends,
I have a internet connection from Nivyah Broadband, Mumbai. I have been using it for long now, and sharing it using a netgear router. Unfortunately, around 1 month back, I found that I am not able to use the internet. I did a traceroute, it showed no problem, but I was still not able to browse. I tried using other service provider on the same settings i.e. changing the access-concentrator details etc. it works fine.
Switched back to Nivyah and again the same result. I am not able to browse or in otherwords not able to use internet.
Please can somebody guide me, how can I bypass the ISP blocking me from using internet from a router?
Also, I would like to know, how would an ISP come to know that I am sharing my net connection.
I tried googling it, but was not able to find any satisfying document on same, on my own. If there is anything on same I would definitely like to read on it. Please assist.
Thank you

You cannot bypass a determined and capable ISP.
Also, I would like to know, how would an ISP come to know that I am sharing my net connection.
Any number of ways - from passive fingerprinting to site visits and interviews.
I personally wouldn't touch a single-device ISP with a barge pole. My advice to you would be to vote with your rupees.

I am not sure if I am missing something. But I dont understand why sharing your internet connection would be a problem. Many of browsing centers and IT companies do it.

I believe you are going the wrong path. Share the details on how you did the trace route from where(which machine in the network). also provide more details on your netgrear configuration. Did you try resetting your netgear and configuring it from the scratch. I have had some instances where my netgear configuration gets corrupt when there is a power serge or something like that.
Hope it helps

Several ISPs do it - offer a single-user connection with an unlimited plan, but low bandwidth. See here:

The reasoning may be faulty, but if you have signed up for it, then it is up to you to keep up your end of the bargain.
Browsing centers and IT companies do not sign up for residential plans - they take business plans which are usually priced comparatively much higher.

from what I see, OP has a contract to use a single machine and he is not allowed to share it. He shared, got caught and now has no access. If this is the case, I do not think this list should be involved. If it is not the case - then please ignore my mail.

You have not mentioned if the said internet works at least on a single computer. First check this. If it works, do remember to use the MAC id that was bound to your connection. In your router or computer you can manually change the MAC id to your choice.
Nowadays using a router is not much of a problem with ISPs.
It works fine on 1 PC, and therefore there is no MAC issue. Secondly, I tried doing a traceroute, it successfully completes the trace. Only thing is I get a page cannot be displayed, while browsing. I have tried other ISP on the same router and it works fine.

Try changing your TTL to 130. Default in most cases is 128.
