Cant libyahoo, gtkyahoo imitate the yahoo's official client? Then there would be no way yahoo can switch things around because there own client would not work then. Anyway I dont have any idea about how libyahoo and gtkyahoo works but thats what I think should be.
Btw, isnt yahoo's official client good enough? I think it is almost same as windows yahoo client except no 'chat' feature is available.
Amish.
P.S. what is LIH in subject line?

It is quite likely that, if instructed by yahoo to do so, they will find it pretty trivial to "figure out" what you are doing and switch things around. I think they figure "do this often enough and wait for the open source IM clients to get tired of it" :)

What do you think we're trying to do? The official yahoo client uses an MD5 Challenge/Response pair that is near impossible to crack. If you can, please help. Get a packet sniffer (I think you already have one), and start working on the authentication part. Look for tcp connects on port 5050 from your machine with the PUSH flag set to 1.
I've posted details about the connections in an earlier thread - search the archives (or linux-india-help archives).

No, it's not good enough. It is not released under the GPL which makes it very bad. You may be okay running non-free software. Many people are not. Besides, do you really think that vendor lock-in is a good thing for consumers?

Not to mention the fact that yahoo's client crashes more often than any software I have - that too, without my doing anything. Just log in, and keep it on for about an hour - no messages, no nothing. It will crash.
