dear all, my dat drive is under repair and i want to take backup of files in to a tar+gz archive but the problem is that the it does not allow to create a file more than size of 2 gb. any solution will be appreciated.

I never had any problems backing up data in the range of around 3-5 GB using tar-gz and the compressed file size of around 2-3GB. Maybe you are going out of space while archiving.
