Greetins,
I had posted a few days back asking help for the Garbled text in RH 8.0, I have found that by following these two simple things the quality of the output of the console can be incresed.
1. Setting LANG="en_US" in /etc/sysconfig/i18n (Defaults to en_US.UTF-8).
2. Using frame buffer mode for the console. I used vga=789 as a parameter to my kernel to accomplish this.
Bye.

Even after resetting as above, things didn't work for me. But one unusual step *seems* to have solved the problem (at least at my end). What I did was add more virtual terminals on the console (/etc/inittab) and the issue is resolved. I no longer get garbled screen. Red Hat comes with default 6 VTs, I increased it to 10. I don't know if this is the solution of just a case of coincidence.

It probably is a bug, I wanted more terminals (9 to be precise) so I increased it to 9 terminals just to realize that there were problems with fonts and languages in the new terminals where as the old ones used to work very well. I have not tested my recommendations using 6 terminals.
