hi all, Is there anyway i can split a DVD iso image of a distro onto a number of CDs so that the anaconda or whatever installer automatically asks for the next disk as it normally does.

U can. With debian get the packages.gz file for each cd. Copy the packages into a subdirectory, create new packages.gz and copy to the same directory. Create iso with neccessary boot track. Burn. Repeat process. U will may have problems with the installer if u do not maintain directory structure of the cd. I have never done this.
