You may also try out FreeBSD/Solaris 10 which is somthing work toying around with if you haev the time.

For what? Endless dependency hell? Haven't you seen the popularity of apt4rpm? There is no doubt that apt is very powerful and versatile package management tool. Bashing apt for the sake of doing so is not going to change any of the above

Dependency hell? You mean yum/up2date are not enough? RPM is the equivalent of dpkg. Not apt.

seriously, apt is far more user friendly than rpm. rpm is sure to make you bald if you're a techie, and hate linux if you're not.
