Try using net-card-conf, a utility in Knoppix.
I am not sure about the command name (as in placements of hyphens), try using the tab to get the correct name.
Hi
Anybody ever heard of a bug in tar program ?
I have two versions of tar. In this version --exclude-from FILE works perfect. 150796 Aug 27 2001 /bin/tar [ls -l /bin/tar]
Where as in this version --exclude-from FILE doesn't work 138016 Oct 11 1999 /bin/tar [ls -l /bin/tar]
How can I see which version of tar I am using ?

tar --version
The long options are specific to GNU versions of unix utilities, it may be different on you system if it is not a GNU system, why not try man <command> first!
the version for problematic tar is
tar (GNU tar) 1.13
