hope it hits indian markets but i fear thats unlikly considering the market(uber geeks) for these devices, most people wont know what to do with them.

It is worth it if you can get it shipped to the US to someone who is visiting. A couple of my friends have the sheeva plug and run it as a NAS/router/gateway/dns for the home network. It is pretty nifty. More computing power than you would imagine from such a low power device.
Also, your assumption that "most people wont know what to do with them." is incorrect. Besides those who already have a sheeva plug, I know a lot of enthusiasts who hack on single board pcs like the beagle board, hawkboard and arduino.
