Thanks, but ... You have experience, but does it work. What is the kind of modem they provide, does it need a usb/serial connection.

Thanks for the info. MTNL engineers have no clue whether it works, that guy says, "how can you connect to Internet without Windows?". He said never heard about GNU/Linux, then he said he will call me back, which never happened.
If there are any specific instructions that GNU/Linux OS needs for this service, we can compose the instructions, and then i will request the MTNL to mention it on their website, which today lists only Microsoft systems as supported. Can you prepare such an instruction note?

Follwoing Bourne Shell Scripts for ADSL.
#All-purpose slicing/dicing shell script to configure rp-pppoe. /sbin/adsl-setup # For setting up ADSL.
#Shell script to connect to an ADSL provider using PPPoE. /sbin/adsl-connect
# Shell script to bring up an ADSL connection. /sbin/adsl-start
#Shell script to report on status of ADSL connection. /sbin/adsl-status
#Shell script to bring down an ADSL connection. /sbin/adsl-stop
If required any further detail/explaination. Please let me know.
Note: Scripts are available on FC2.
