Hello Friends...
This is my 1st post. so plz be kind if I did any wrong :-)
I have VIA 8233 board I heard 1st sound when I used mandrek 9.2, RH 9.0 (which came along DIGIT). I think mandrek is more cool... (it's my op.) But DIGIT gave only CD-1 other 2 r missing...
In mandrek 8.0 they have option at install time...But...mandrek "devloped" 9.2 so good............
Lastly "plz anyone of u folks can kindly give/distribute those CD's i tried knoppix 3.2 but it has no sound supprt/dma support /SVGA support ..ah...VIA8233... knoppix 3.3 would be nice..."
Awaiting Hopefull reply...

Hey pal, Your post is pretty confusing. You speakin' of mandr(ake/ek), knoppix or VIA 8233? Please be a bit more specific so that other members can try to reply at least. But guessing that some problem exists with your VIA 8233 chipset, I am posting this reply. You require the via82cxxx_audio module for the 8233 on-board sound to work. So either compile a new kernel with 8233 on-board sound support or configure the ALSA drivers. Google for ALSA or "via82cxxx_audio module" for more help regarding these.
Sorry but I can't understand what you are trying to talk about mandrake. Anyways I wont be able to help you with it as I have never used mandrake.
A suggestion: For sound/dma/svga support etc I think you should at least download a newer kernel (try 2.4.22) image or compile one yourself. Just read the documentation before compiling a kernel to avoid a disaster.
Regards, Bhaskar.

Nope you didn't do anything wrong. Besides that, we generally kick the ogres out.

Guess distros have become personal just like T-Shirts :). Everyone has his/her favourite.

Hmmm... you seem to be confused. Distros have their own versioning scheme. It's not the version of Linux. The Linux Kernel is now doing 2.6. The version you mention is the distro's version.
