It just looks good.
I like command line linux/uni= x for what it is - however, I have a big
big problem with its GUI. Th= e fonts, the widgets, the ratios. The
numerous GUI toolkits aren't he= lping a standardisation either.
Windows looks great - because = everything is consistent. The size of
the icons, the fonts, buttons, = etc. Everything goes well with each
other. I'm waiting for a the day = I can find a distro with a WM that
maintiains consistency in terms if= sizes of widgets and fonts and
all the related things resulting in a= very very smoothly integrated
and polished interface. I want the app= s to use the native WM widgets,
regardless of what TK they were devel= oped using.
Or am I living in a world of the past?

Please turn off the HTML. Please do not top post.
I could not glean much out of this, but if you want a consistent and polished desktop, stick to applications for a single DE like KDE or GNOME.
I am not sure that Windows looks great, or is even functionally usable to me. Windowmaker is much more the way I like to work.
A good thing we all have the choice of whatever desktop we like.
