Hi there.
I compiled the released Q3 Arena source (thank you, thank you Mr. John Carmack!) a couple of hours ago. However, I soon found out that somehow it ran well only if I fired up X in a resolution of 640x480. It just wouldn't get up to speed if I booted into the default resolution of 1024x768 (even though q3 itself ran in 640x480 mode).
Is there a way I can start X in 640x480 mode without changing the global /etc/X11/xorg.conf file? My current routine constitutes changing that file, restarting X, playing Quake, and then changing the file back ...

AFAIR, the hotkeys are CTRL+ALT+PLUS and CTRL+ALT+MINUS for increasing or decreasing the resolutions. Make sure the resolutions you want to use exist in your modelines.

This doesn't help, nor does 'xrandr'. I have to start up X in 640x480.
