Frankly is that some kind of joke. RTL 8139 series has been supported by linux for very long time now.
I just took a look at copyright notice. In 1997 initial version was written by donald becker.
driver name is 8139too
I am currently using two RTL 8139c cards on my machine.
dmesg output: ------------------------------------------------ eth0: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xcc8b2000, 00:50:fc:27:7e:9f, IRQ 5 eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C' PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:11.0 divert: allocating divert_blk for eth1 eth1: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xcc8b4000, 00:e0:4c:77:2c:17, IRQ 11 eth1: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C' ---------------------------------------------------
There have been no major issues getting it detected and using it.
