Hi folks! I need help on how to install Oracle 9i on linux.The database is to be tuned for OLTP environment.So can someone give me pointers on partitions, whether to use RAID 10 for OS and RAID 5 for the database...block size, SGA size etc.

Google it and you should find the same.
By the way..one important question i wanted to ask you was....Why are you having the Operating System and Database on Different RAID configurations. Wouldn't it would have been easier had both been on a single OS(gnu/linux) install...???
What would be the specific advantages of doing so.

Do not use 9i rel 1 as it is very buggy use rel 2. use raid 0+1 instead of raid 5. BTW what is raid 10. To set other parameters you need an Oracle DBA.
