Hi All, I'm new to this Group and to Linux also. As Gimp is a substitute for Photoshop, is there any substitute for Flash?

There is a Linux version of Flash Player. However, AFAIK, there is no substitute for Macromedia Flash (the creator). You might try crossoveroffice though. (Around $40, and cheaper than Win XP).
Wouldn't it be great if the complete Macromedia Studio MX ran on Linux?

Unfortunately no, AFAIK there aren't any software packages that allow you to create flash movies in GNU.
You may try using wine with a little dated Macromedia Flash installation. It may just do the trick!
