What happens if modem is rebooted at 12AM(00:00) but NOT rebooted at 8AM. May be reverse would happen. You would remain in unlimited (day unlimited) scheme.

Wishful thinking :) At ~7:50, MTNL trips your modem. So from 8 AM onwards you are in PayMode. Their software is highly customized to make mistakes only one way..
