Hi!
I was wondering how [ OK ] is displayed in color. I found the /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions file. I got the 'color code' and assigned PS1="\033[1;32m$" |----- my prompt
Now my prompt appears in green color!!!. I would like to know what do those numbers and symbols mean. I figured out that 32m stands for a color and changing the value changes the color.
I found out another tweak by which one can have a message on the console while all the commands scroll below it. Here is the exact command.
$ clear;echo -e '\033[018;25r'; cat ascii_logo_file
I use this in rc.sysinit to dislay a logo while other stuff scrolls below it. Kinda looks good ;-) Again I would like to know what does the stuff mean.
BTW has anyone used a kernel patch which shows a welcome screen ? I've found LPP and I'll be checking it out soon :-)

LPP requires framebuffer support, and if you're stuck with i810 motherboard which doesn't have framebuffer support (other than 16 color one), give a try to i810-fb patch at kollektive.sf.net. There's patch for 2.4.2 and 2.4.9. If your kernel version is different, holler on the mailing list.
chyrag.

I've Cyrix MII 300 , VIA Chipset . I guess these should work fine. I guess kernel version won't be a issue as I'll dnld the version which has a patch available :-)

Partition table entries are not in disk order
Command (m for help):
The last line came after I maded a change to the table - I initially had a FAT16 partiton for windows on /dev/hda6 and swap was on /dev/hda7. To make spacec for FreeBSD4.4_1, I deleted partition 6 and divideed it into 2 parts, and the table became as what u see now.
Windows still shows 2 GB on my E drive.. Howz tht?? And is the last line a problem " Partition table entries are not in disk order "...
Later, I realized that FreeBSd wants a primary partition to create a SLICE, Pls correct me in this matter if I am wrong... Thnx in Advance Bye, Surya __ __ ~|~ |__ |__| |/ = __|urya |rakash |\ompalli

Not necessary. The web page can have references to ftp pages. All current browsers can handle ftp.
Just put the url as ftp://...
