Have you guys tried Xconfigurator? If that doesn't work, then try xf86config, but this requires detailed documentation of your hardware, like hsync and vsync rates for the monitor, etc.
In case of RedHat 8.0, the thing is now called redhat-config-xserver, I think. It's their new naming convention: redhat-config-whatever.
Sameer.

if nothing else works, get the manuals of your hardware and change the appropriate parameters in the /etc/X11/XF86Config file.

that's irritating. we will have type more characters to get anything configured now. :-)

I did a quick search and found that there are the ASUS cards supported on RH7.1 (PCQ linux)
575 SiS 300 SiS300 576 SiS 3D PRO AGP SiS6326 577 SiS 530 SiS530 578 SiS 540 SiS540 579 SiS 5597 SiS5597 580 SiS 5598 SIS5598 581 SiS 620 SIS620 582 SiS 630 SiS630 583 SiS 6326 SiS6326 584 SiS SG86C201 SIS86C201 585 SiS SG86C205 SIS86C205 586 SiS SG86C215 SIS86C215 587 SiS SG86C225 SIS86C225 588 Sierra Screaming 3D Verite 1000 589 Sigma Concorde ET4000/W32
means that SIS300 is supported on RH7.1.
NOTE: ON RH7.3 I HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH MY X AND FORTUNATELY I OWE MY TEXT BASED LINUX SKILLS TO RH7.3, I HAD TO STOP USING X ON RH7.3 BECAUSE IT WAS TOOOOO SLOW. THE 7.3 COMES WITH SOME VIERED 4.X XSERVER WHICH DOES NOT HAVE ACCELERATION FOR MOST CARDS. VISIT http://www.xf86.org for more info and hardware supported by a specific Xserver.
