Hi Vikram, Is the workshop open for all? If yes, where can I find more information regarding the program/agenda of the workshop?

Yes, the workshop is open for all. It is for newbies who may not be interested in pure tech so a "gentle" approach is being used. We don't have a website up and running yet at fsmm.in Waiting for volunteers to help with that :) If you have a grandma/grandpa/nephew/niece/school-college kid who you want to get acquainted with FOSS then bring them over. We do have a limitation on the number of systems so some advance intimation would be good. Else get your GNU/Linux laptop and come over. Vikram

Interesting. In terms of volunteer speakers, do you have any other topics open that I can contribute to, other than local language support? I have done so me localization work for a couple of govt projects I was involved in, but its not really my thing. I can on the other hand do some great sessions on the history of Linux and operating systems in general, lots of linux desktop user tips and tricks, overview of alternatives to common progrs and applications and maybe even a session on gaming in Linux. Anything sounds interesting?
P.s. I can put up a small joomla site with some basic content and an event schedule, if you want, on my centos server. But note - I'm no web designer. It will be functional, not pretty 😀.

The current schedule is as follows:
1. Introduction to free software philosophy 10.30 am to 11.00 am
2. Hands on training for various applications like LibreOffice, GIMP etc ^ I will also add basic system administration using GUI tools in this session 11.00 am to 1.00 pm
3. Lunch Break 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm
4 .Basics of Ubuntu language localisation (Hindi, Marathi and Malayalam) 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm
5 GNU Linux users’ Group (GLUG) formation 3.00 pm to 3.30 pm
A session on games would be great and we could try to fit it in somewhere.

Thanks for the offer :) I shall get back to you on this off-list. Vikram

Would you be able to handle the session on games between 12:30 and 13:00 and between 15:30-16:00? If yes, what games would you demo? Are they in the Edubuntu repo? The second session between 10:30 and 12:30 will focus on educational tools for schools so this is an appropriate flavor.

Dear Vikram,
Will try and cover different genres of games, from fps to simulation to strategy to board. Most games will be Foss, from the fedora repos, but should also be in the Ubuntu repos.
Will also take up platforms like steam and the humble bundle's, not not in depth, since they aren't open.
In terms of timing, I saw the schedule in the other mail, and it looks good to me. Looking forward to it even...
Thanks and Regards
