It seems theres something fishy going on . Whenever i use the url http://slashdot.org it leads me to the site www.hometrade.com. I tried this on 2 different ISPs Caltiger and Mantra. However http://www.slashdot.org leads to the right site. any ideas wots happening ?

I haven't had any problems, and I only use slashdot.org. Seems like someone has messed with your dns. Do a nslookup and see what comes up.
It should be 64.28.67.150. www.slashdot.org is an alias for it. Nameservers ns[123].andover.net. Make sure that that's what your name server thinks.
