Shipco Transport, a leading international cargo transportation company, has an immediate opening for a skilled senior system administrator at our regional IT R&D center located in Mumbai, India.

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the senior system administrator is responsible for developing and supporting next generation systems and services, ranging from DNS to high volume mail servers to high transactional Ecommerce environments.

Requirements:

- At least 5 years of IT field experience.

- Solid understanding of computing and well versed in many different areas of IT, you should be known as a guru among your peers!

- Extensive experience with Linux and possibly other *nix flavors. Includes customizing distros, kernel building and debugging, performance optimization, software packaging. Currently the Linux environment is a mix of RedHat Enterprise and Debian.

- Advanced networking skills. Includes firewalling (netfilter), subnetting, routing etc. Cisco router experience.

- Infrastructure planning experience, with concentration on redundancy and service availability (fail over).

- Advanced Perl and PHP development in an OO environment.

- Good organizational & interpersonal skills and a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are the norm.

Desired Skills/Education:

- RDBMS, including advanced MySQL and Oracle.

- Strong security knowledge, possibly paired with a certification like CISSP or similar.
