Hi,
I am Hon. working for a Leading NGO in Western Suburbs as IT Head.
Recently we purchased a new pc of below mentioned Configuration:
Intel P IV 3.0 Ghz 531 with EM64T (64 Bit Tech.) Intel 915G Original Mother Board 512 MB DDR RAM 400 Mhz 80 Gb SATA Hard Disk (Samsung ST380017AS) and rest of the things (Keyboard, Mouse M/Media Speakers Ect)
I am trying to install Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.0 AS/WS on the same but my hard disk is not recognised during installation. It shows no hard disk found and asks for the SATA Driver Disketts.
Even i tried to install Fedora Core 4 Provided with Digit Aug 05 Magzine. But it also does not recognise my Hard Disk.
One of my friend told me that i have to use a distribution which supports 64 bit Technology.
Can any one provide me the necessary Distribution of RHEL 3.0 AS/WS or Fedora Core 4 or Mandriva 10 and Driver disks required for the same.
Awaiting Reply,
Thanks and Regards,
Amol.

recently i installed fedora core 4 x86_64 on dual xeon servers with SATA hard disk. there were no issues exept while booting up the cd you have to boot with mediacheck kernel otherwise it hangs.
even the x86 version also detects correctly everthing. (i have even installed Debian and FreeBSD for the test purpose. they also work perfectly.....ok i have to remove it because my higher authority wanted to have fedora :(
did you check in BIOS? does it show there? latest knoppix also detects it.

Your problem isn't the EM64T technology. The problem is that SATA controllers are still poorly supported on Linux. Hence your board's SATA controller isn't recognised. I am currently using a samsung 120GB SATA drive. My board is Intel D865GBF and the SATA drive works correctly. Check out updates for you chipset.
