Hi,

I am kind of new to using PostgreSQL.I wrote a program which establishes a simple connection to the database by passing in three parameters; the database , username and password.

I have created a postgres user and a have assigned it a password by using the createuser script.

however running the program throws some exception which is as follows

A connection error has occured: FATAL 1:No pg_hba.conf entry for host 127.0.0.1, user foo,database petshop

and the first line of the stacktrace goes something like this

at org.postgresql.jdbc1.AbstractJdbc1Connection:openConnection(....

I am not trying to do anything fancy over here, so any method to make postgres and jdbc run is welcome.I use Mdk Linux 9.0 which i think comes with PostgresSQL 7.3.
