FYI, check this out.
Hey Kiran, Really awesome work. Especially for all the mewbiesa re going to hail you. I wish I had found this document before I found Rubini and Corbet. I wouldn't have damned their opor souls for making Linux sound so much like greek, then. So for all the newbies asking to join this project , please go through this article as thorughly as you can.
But actually, what my freinds here, and me too, want is someone to guide us while we actually write a linux device driver from scratch. Lets say for example, a keyboard dd or a new filesystem or something like that. See, it doesn't matter what device it is, serial or block or network... the point is we want to try writing a driver from absolute scratch and would like some of you experienced people to mentor over us.
Rubini and Corbet and lot of other authors (incuding you) have given us the basic knowledge required and maybe even a complex PSEUDO-device driver. Also, one may argue, there are drivers with source in the linux source and also freely available on the net. However, unless we end-up writing a full fledged dd from scratch, I think the education remains incomplete.
I hope you are getting I'm driving at.
