If you could get your floppy drive working (if unused for long, an earbud+alcohol aught to cure it), Segate has got good disk utilities at their site. I have used some on my Western Digital drive so I guess they are not hardcoded to work only on Segate drives. You could try them, maybe. A low-level format will mark the bad sectors/blocks and also there is a good probability that your partitions and data will be intact (apart from the 'bad' of course).
