Hi Group,
Sometimes before there was discussion in the group on the that sm56 motorola internal modem doesn't work on linux machine but now it is possible to use the above modem as the driver source code is been made available but it is not done by the modem company thanks to Mr. Rajes Kizhuveetil for writting the driver all you have to do is download the driver from www.sm56.tk untar it "make" and "make install" that's it you are done and now u can use the modem but the problem is it doesn't work with wvdial (Konsole dialer) But with kpp it works fine.
So fellow luggers with the above modem now enjoy the internet connection with your internal sm56 modem

sm56 is supposed to be a winmodem and many such winmodems don't work on Linux systems..you can go to www.linmodems.org and find the driver for Linux for any winmodem ..

Won't exactly be enjoyable since the modem does most of its stuff in software and this one has another layer to map calls from the closed source library from motorola to those of the existing kernel. Unless, of course, you have a screamer of a CPU.
