ACM Seminar - Streamlining XML for data-intensive applications

Abstract: eXtensible Markup Language (XML) has quickly gained acceptance as a platform and application independent grammar for marshalling data as well as structuring documents for further processing or presentation. As more and more sectors find XML beneficial, most notably the Web Services Architecture, the overly verbose syntax of XML and complicated rules for handling markup and character data begin to approach their limits. This seminar showcases some of the most notable efforts done to overcome these problems.
About the Speaker: Tahir Hashmi works in the DAKE (Data and Knowledge Engineering) Division of NCST. He is a Technology graduate in Chemical Engineering from AMU. Tahir is a Free Software user/promoter and Linux geek. His areas of interest include Systems Programming and Application Developm
