Just put the usb drive and then type tail /var/log/messages which will have the message that a new USB drive has been detected and its name is /dev/xyz you can then give command #mount -t vfat /dev/xyz /folder/whereUwant_ur_USB

$ cd /folder

$ cp * /home/user1/ will copy all the things from USB to the users home directory
